One of Australia’s most famous and powerful express passenger steam locomotives is about to stamp it’s authority in Victorian Railways history. Described as one of the ‘Black Diamond’ classics, the post World War II implementation was as spectacular as it was short lived. With the imminent arrival of the VR’s first mainline diesel electric locomotive, the “B” Class, it wasn’t long before they were relegated to become the mainstay power for the seasonal grain harvest duties.

The “Big Hudson” will always be remembered in it‘s full glory, double-headed on some of Victoria’s most magnificent lines. They were just some of the most amazing sights and sounds in our railway history.

Today, Precision Scale Models has embarked upon one of the most exciting projects in it‘s history. The Victorian Railways “R” Class Hudson Steam Locomotive 4-6-4 in “O” Scale. “A classic prototype – a classic model.”
