The Victorian Railways “J” Class 2-8-0 Coal & Oil Burner locomotives were introduced into service between 1953 and 1954. The “J” was the second of the “Consolidation” design after the “K” Class.

They were equally at home on fast goods, pick-up goods or passenger work either alone, or on heavy trains, double heading with another steam locomotive or an early diesel electric.
